Cross Country Hosts Second Annual Crimson Pride Open

COLUMBUS, Ind. – It was a historic day for IU Columbus cross country at the 2nd Annual Crimson Pride Open, hosted at Cera Sports Park, as the Crimson Pride ran to two new school records, a pair of individual titles, and numerous personal bests.

Freshmen Luke Neibert and Phoebe Dowty headlined the meet, each capturing first place in their respective races while rewriting the IU Columbus record books.

Dowty dominated the women's race, crushing the previous school record by 37 seconds with a winning time of 19:32. Her performance set the tone for a standout day for the Crimson Pride.

On the men's side, (Luke) Neibert continued his stellar freshman campaign by breaking the men's 5K school record with a winning time of 16:32, securing the individual title and leading a strong pack of IU Columbus finishers.

Open Division Results

The open division featured members of the IU Columbus coaching staff, with Head Cross Country Coach Tim Hoeflinger placing 5th (18:49) and Head Track & Field Coach Paul Hafen finishing 24th (24:37).

The 2nd Annual Crimson Pride Open showcased the continued growth and competitive spirit of the IU Columbus program. With two new school records and a long list of personal bests, the Crimson Pride are carrying strong momentum into the heart of the season.

Next Up: Both Cross Country programs return to the course on Saturday, October 25, at the Great Lakes Classic, hosted by Aquinas College. This race will be the last race before the River States Conference meet. Both races are set to start at 11:00 AM.
