IU Columbus Athletics recently announced that Athletic Director Zach McClellan will serve as interim head baseball coach for the 2025-2026 season.
McClellan, a former Indiana University and MLB Colorado Rockies pitcher, also acted as the Crimson Pride's first head baseball coach and most recently served as the team's pitching advisor. He anticipates a seamless transition as he steps into the position recently vacated by Scott Bickel who led and built the program for its first three seasons.
"I'm excited to build on the strong foundation Coach Bickel established," McClellan said. "I'm especially enthusiastic about welcoming our new recruits this fall and continuing to develop the returning players."
Crimson Pride baseball went 10-37 this season, ending on a high note with a 5-4 win against nationally ranked conference campion Oakland City.
The Crimson Pride participates in intercollegiate athletics as a member of the River States Conference in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics). IU Columbus offers men's and women's basketball, cross country, soccer, track and field, women's volleyball, softball, and baseball, as well as club teams for cheer and dance.
