COLUMBUS, Ind. – IU Columbus recognizes student-athletes who deliver standout performances in competition through its weekly Student-Athletes of the Week honors. This award celebrates individuals whose effort, results, and overall contribution have the greatest impact on their team during the week.

This week, men's soccer junior Jake Hofelich and volleyball junior Abigail Watson earned Crimson Pride Student-Athlete of the Week recognition.

Hofelich played all 144 minutes across the men's soccer team's two matches against Taylor University (Sept. 17) and Georgetown University (Sept. 20). He made his mark on the scoreboard with a goal in the match-up against Georgetown, finishing the week with two points and a perfect 1.000 shot percentage, helping the Crimson Pride stay competitive against a strong opponent.

On the volleyball side, Watson had a standout weekend as the Crimson Pride went 2-1 with wins over Oakland City and Brescia. The junior right side totaled 31 kills across the three matches, capped by a career-high 13 kills with a .370 hitting percentage against Brescia. Watson was the spark in the second set, helping lift IUC to a 26-24 win and setting the tone for the team to close out the match in four sets.
