Box Score The IU Columbus men's soccer team played host to Alice Lloyd College on Wednesday at Nexus Park. The Eagles took advantage of some sloppy play by the home team for an early 2-0 lead. The Crimson Pride responded with a big game offensively to earn a 5-3 win. A milestone was reached as the win marked the 50th career victory as a college head coach for Kevin Nolan.

The visitors were awarded an early penalty kick at the 4:39 mark, and Luis Sarabia converted to put the Eagles in front 1-0. Sarabia followed that up with a second goal at 9:20 on an assist by Fernando Gallardo. Things didn't look good at that point in the game, but the Crimson Pride were up to the challenge.

Gavin Fugate scored his first goal on the season at 39:05 on an assist from Michael Mmadi. Alice Lloyd held the 2-1 lead at the half, but IU Columbus was ready to get their offense rolling in the second half.

Maruwe Exauce scored his third goal on the season at the 50:44 mark to tie the score. Exauce scored again five minutes later with an assist from Matheus Gubert to give the home team their first lead of the night. The Eagles fought back to tie the score on a goal by Gallardo with 17 minutes remaining. Marckenson Paul scored three minutes later (assist by Exauce) to put the Crimson Pride back on top 4-3. With 6:13 remaining Gubert scored on an assist by Mmadi to put give IU Columbus some breathing room, and the hosts were able to keep the score there and seal the victory to even their season record at 2-2.

Coach Kevin Nolan: "It was great to get my 50th win, however I didn't think that it would almost come with a heart attack as well! Starting the game down 2-0 was not ideal, but we were finally able to settle down and start chipping away at the deficit. The men's team had never come back from a 2-0 deficit. I made sure to remind the team of that at halftime and to let them know that stat ends tonight. A great comeback victory like this one really brings the team together and grows confidence, knowing that we are never down and out no matter what the score. We've gotta believe we still have a chance. Also, I really want to thank all of my past and present players and coaches for helping me reach the 50 career win milestone."
