9/30/2026 3:03:00 PM

Box Score The IU Columbus volleyball team looked to rebound from a road loss on Wednesday against IU Southeast at Nexus Park on Saturday. The Crimson Pride entered with a sparkling 13-2 record on the season (2-0 in River States Conference play). IU Southeast had other ideas, however, as the Grenadiers cme away with a four set victory, 19-25, 25-12, 25-23, 25-17.

The Crimson Pride looked to be in control from the start as they raced out to a 6-1 lead. The home team was in control the entire first set, with another 5-0 run to lead 22-15. The Grenadiers got within four at 23-19 before a kill by Sadie Egan and a service ace by Ava Myers closed out the first set 25-19.

IU Southeast dominated the second set. Eleven kills and a service ace supplied the offense, and the Grenadiers took advantage of some sloppy play by the Crimson Pride - attack errors, bad sets and service errors - that led to the 25-12 second set score.

The Crimson Pride looked to rebound in the third set, and they led 16-13 on a kill by Kilani Jackson. The Grenadiers responded with six straight points on three kills and three attack errors to take a 19-16 lead. The teams scored two points at a time each to get to a 23-22 score in favor of the visitors. Two service errors by the Crimson Pride in the final three points gave the set to IU Southeast 25-23.

The Grenadiers got out to a commanding 13-4 lead in the fourth set. IU Columbus rallied for eight of the next nine points to close the gap at 14-12. With the visitors leading 20-17, they scored the final five points to close out the fourth set 25-17.

Next on the schedule: The Crimson Pride will try to rest up and regroup before an important weekend road trip. They will play St. Mary of the Woods in Terre Haute Friday at 7:00 pm before going to play IU Kokomo on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm
