Tim Hoeflinger is a passionate and versatile coach with over two decades of experience working with athletes across multiple sports. Originally from Indiana, Tim has dedicated much of his life to developing young people both on and off the field, with a coaching background that includes basketball, baseball, cross country, track, and hockey.
A proud graduate of Taylor University, Tim earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Health in 2002. During his time at Taylor, he was an eight-time varsity letter winner and a standout athlete in both cross country and track. He qualified for the NAIA Cross Country National Championships three times, contributing to top-10 national finishes in each of those seasons. On the track, he was also a three-time NAIA national qualifier.
In 2022, Tim was named Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach at IU Columbus. He brings a deep passion for helping each athlete reach their full potential—academically, socially, emotionally, and athletically. His coaching philosophy is grounded in relationship-building and personal growth, creating an environment where student-athletes can thrive long after their time in competition.
Tim is also a lifelong endurance athlete, completing Ironman Wisconsin in 2021 and the Boston Marathon in 2025—an extension of his commitment to goal-setting, perseverance, and leading by example.
Tim lives an active lifestyle and is deeply rooted in his community. He takes great pride in the lifelong relationships he builds with his teams and values the personal journeys of every athlete he coaches.
