Jon Michael Bright is an emerging soccer coach and proud IU Columbus alumnus, beginning his coaching career with the IU Columbus Men’s Soccer program in 2025. With a strong background as a player and leader, Jon Michael brings passion, energy, and a player-first mindset to his new role on the sidelines.
A former collegiate standout, Jon Michael began his playing career at Spartanburg Methodist College, where the team ranked as high as #6 in the nation. He then transferred to Iowa Lakes Community College, a perennial top-10 program, before concluding his playing career at IU Columbus. As a member of the Crimson Pride, he made history by scoring the first goal in program history and served as a two-year team captain. His leadership and performance on the field earned him Second Team All-Conference honors. He played the forward position.
Jon Michael graduated from IU Columbus with a degree in General Studies, combining his academic achievement with a deep commitment to athletics. His coaching philosophy—"Don’t set rules, set standards so high that mediocrity feels like failure"—reflects his high expectations, competitive mindset, and belief in pushing players to their full potential.
As he begins his coaching journey, Jon Michael is excited to give back to the program that helped shape him, while inspiring the next generation of IU Columbus student-athletes.
