Box Score Game One Highlights
IUPUC Crimson Pride softball team watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 14-0 loss to Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats on Thursday. Indiana Wesleyan scored on a double by Elia Koshy, an error, and triple by Julianne Bell, and a home run by Ashton Whitman in the first inning. The Crimson Pride struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Wildcats, giving up 14 runs. Indiana Wesleyan got on the board in the first inning when Koshy doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
One bright spot for the Crimson Pride was a single by Gracie Holok in the fourth inning. Alyana Thomas was the winning pitcher for Indiana Wesleyan. Thomas allowed two hits and zero runs over two innings, walking zero. Sydney Owens took the loss for the Crimson Pride. The righty surrendered 11 runs on 11 hits over three innings. Alyssa Wagner started the game for the Wildcats. She went three innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out four. Indiana Wesleyan hit two home runs on the day. Koshy put one out in the second inning. Whitman had a four-bagger in the first inning.
Holok and Rachel Cowan each collected on hit lead IUPUC. Indiana Wesleyan tallied 14 hits. Koshy, Bell, Kamryn Buck, and Sadie Harding all managed multiple hits for the Wildcats. Indiana Wesleyan was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Whitman made the most plays with five.
Game Two Highlights
IUPUC Crimson Pride had a tough time generating runs in their game two loss, 7-1 to the Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats. Indiana Wesleyan scored six runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Indiana Wesleyan came thanks to singles by Julianne Bell and Elisa Koshy, doubles by Chloe Tragesser and Ashton Whitman, and a sacrifice fly by Kamryn Buck. Emma Etter-Cox was the winning pitcher for the Wildcats. The fireballer lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and one run while striking out nine and walking one. Nataler McNeil threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. McNeil recorded the last out to earn the save for Indiana Wesleyan.
Rachel Cowan took the loss for the Crimson Pride. Cowan went six innings, allowing seven runs on 12 hits and striking out five. IUPUC had seven hits in the game. Cowan and Elyse Goad all managed multiple hits for the Crimson Pride. Cowan went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead IUPUC in hits. Indiana Wesleyan tallied 12 hits on the day. Tragesser, Jennah Yost, Koshy, and Buck each collected multiple hits for the Wildcats. Indiana Wesleyan was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Ella Gearhart had the most chances in the field with nine. Courtney Thomas led Indiana Wesleyan with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.
