IU Columbus Takes Down Alice Lloyd on the Road

The IU Columbus Crimson Pride secured a convincing 3-1 victory (25-14, 23-25, 25-11, 25-14) over Alice Lloyd College on Friday evening at the Perry Campus Center. The win improved IU Columbus to 7-9 on the season while demonstrating their offensive firepower.

Cora Baker led the charge with a dominant performance, recording 14 kills on .545 hitting, alongside 5 aces for a match-high 19 points. Maddie Hunter added consistency to the attack with 10 kills and an impressive .348 hitting percentage, contributing 15 points to the winning effort.

The Crimson Pride's serving proved to be a decisive factor, with the team recording 20 aces overall. Sadie Egan spearheaded the serving assault with 9 aces while efficiently distributing 19 assists. The team's offense clicked throughout the match, posting a strong .367 hitting percentage.

After a commanding first-set win, IU Columbus faced resistance in the second set, dropping it 25-23. However, the team responded emphatically, dominating the next two sets to close out the match. The defense, anchored by solid back-row play and timely blocks, held Alice Lloyd to just a .078 hitting percentage.

Kenzie Bostic provided additional offensive support with 23 attempts, while Addisson Lemon contributed from the service line and helped coordinate the offense with 13 assists. The team's balanced attack and aggressive serving proved too much for Alice Lloyd (6-19) to handle.

The Crimson Pride will look to build on this momentum as they face conference foe, Shawnee State, tomorrow, Saturday, October 19 at 12pm.
