Despite facing significant pressure in the opening period, IU Columbus' defense held firm behind goalkeeper Mallory Gilley, who made three crucial first-half saves to keep the match level at 0-0 heading into the break.
However, Oakland City mounted an overwhelming offensive campaign in the second half. The hosts broke through in the 50th minute when Maggie Mubuto connected on an assist from Tatjana Steinau, triggering a scoring avalanche. Linn Adolfsson-Funk and Alice Thoren found the net in quick succession around the 53-minute mark, pushing the lead to 3-0. Adolfsson-Funk added her second goal unassisted in the 59th minute, before Paulina Osterman, Mubuto, and Osterman again rounded out the scoring in the final 25 minutes.
Cyanne St. Bernard registered the Crimson Pride's lone shot of the match, while Gilley finished with seven saves against relentless pressure from Oakland City's attack, which generated 25 total shots with 17 on target. The hosts also dominated set pieces, earning seven corner kicks to IU Columbus' none.
The physical contest saw nine total fouls, with IU Columbus called for six and Oakland City three.
