Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Crimson Pride Falls to #12 Georgetown College on the Road

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - Despite a strong individual performance from freshman guard Jacelyn Starks, the IU Columbus women's basketball team faced a challenging night on the road, falling to Georgetown 100-49 in Thursday night's non-conference matchup.

Starks led the offensive effort for IU Columbus with 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting, including a made three-pointer. Sophomore Abby Fleetwood provided solid support with eight points and six rebounds, showing effectiveness both on the glass and in finding her shots.

The team struggled to find their rhythm early, managing just 14 points in the first quarter. Despite their efforts to close the gap, Georgetown's defensive pressure proved too much to overcome, as IU Columbus committed 25 turnovers against Georgetown's aggressive defense.

Cora Baker, though held scoreless, contributed with five rebounds and demonstrated solid defensive effort in her 28 minutes of play.

The bright spot for IU Columbus came at the free-throw line, where the team shot a respectable 77.8% (7-of-9). However, Georgetown's domination on the boards (46-20 rebounding advantage) and superior shooting performance (51.4% from the field) proved too much to overcome.

The team will look to build upon Starks' strong performance and bounce back from tonight's loss.

The Crimson Pride return to action, on their home court, Tuesday (Nov. 26) against Bethel University (Ind.). Tip-off is set 6:00 pm.
