Box Score IU Columbus women's volleyball team concluded their regular season in dramatic fashion Saturday afternoon, outlasting Oakland City University in a five-set marathon (24-26, 25-15, 21-25, 25-23, 15-13) at the Johnson Center. The victory not only capped IU Columbus's regular season campaign but also spoiled Oakland City's Senior Night celebrations.
Cora Baker led the charge for IU Columbus with a dominant performance, recording 22 kills for a stellar .333 hitting percentage. Baker's 24.5 points proved crucial in the back-and-forth battle that saw momentum shift multiple times throughout the match.
After dropping a tightly contested first set 26-24, IU Columbus responded emphatically in the second frame with a convincing 25-15 win to level the match. Oakland City reclaimed the advantage by taking the third set 25-21, but IU Columbus showed tremendous resilience by capturing both the fourth set 25-23 and the decisive fifth set 15-13.
Kenze Bostic contributed 12 kills, while Addison Lemon and Alyvia Luce anchored the defense. Lemon finishing with 49 assists and Luce with 34 digs. The team's defensive effort was noteworthy throughout, as they accumulated 100 digs total. Olivia Embry and Leah Thompson each added 8 points to the winning cause.
Oakland City's Chloee Thomas finished with a team-high 18 kills, but it wasn't enough to secure a victory on her team's Senior Night. The Mighty Oaks' Yianmarie Catala recorded a team-high 26 digs in the losing effort.
