Baseball Drops First Game of Year

IUPUC dropped a close 6-4 contest to visiting Aquinas (MI) on Saturday after a late comeback attempt fell just short. The Crimson Pride scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to cut the deficit to 6-4, but could not complete the rally.

Aquinas scored single runs in five different frames to build a five run lead before the Crimson Pride mounted their charge. Saints' starter Ramsey Bousseau picked up the win while Crimson Pride reliever Griffin Stromberg was saddled with the loss.

For the home squad, third baseman Peyton Blinn paced the offense by going 2-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI. First baseman Jared Ross and second baseman Johnny Sewell also drove in runs for the Crimson Pride.

The Crimson Pride outhit the visiting Saints 7 to 6, but committed four costly errors leading to three unearned runs. Shortstop Wyatt Sutton accounted for three of those miscues.

IUPUC starter Drew Bradley kept his team in the game, allowing just two runs over six innings pitched before the Saints were able to break through against the bullpen.

The Crimson Pride fall to 0-1 with the loss while Aquinas picked up their first win to improve to 1-0.
