Box Score

The IU Columbus Crimson Pride fell short on Saturday, September 21st, suffering a challenging 5-0 defeat that dropped their season record to 3-4-1.

From the opening whistle, the Crimson Pride found themselves on the back foot against a relentless Georgetown attack. Despite their defensive efforts, the floodgates opened in the 42nd minute when Georgetown's Mohammed Mouzoune broke the deadlock, sending the teams into halftime with IU Columbus trailing 1-0.

The second half saw an explosion of offense from Georgetown. Daniel Saer doubled their lead in the 55th minute, assisted by Nicolas Del Aguila. As the Crimson Pride pushed for a comeback, spaces opened up at the back, which Georgetown exploited. Mouzoune struck again in the 81st minute, followed by quick-fire goals from Alejandro Mena and Xavier Hales in the 87th and 88th minutes, respectively.

Despite the scoreline, IU Columbus showed moments of promise throughout the match. Jon Michael Bright led the offensive charge with four shots, while Angel Roque, Alejandro Alvarez, and Alejandro Saldivar each contributed dangerous attempts on goal. The team managed to force Georgetown's keeper, Lukas Steiner, into making eight saves.

Frustrations began to show in the 58th minute, when Saulo Luna received a yellow card.

The defensive unit, led by goalkeeper Harris Weltz, faced an onslaught of 16 shots from Georgetown, with Weltz making five saves in a busy afternoon.

IU Columbus returns to action on Thursday, September 26 at 7pm, where they'll open up conference play against West Virigina University Institute of Technology.
