Box Score IU Columbus suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to Ohio Christian University on Monday, September 30. The loss dropped the Crimson Pride to 2-4-1 overall.

The Crimson Pride found themselves on the defensive, as Ohio Christian came out with an aggressive offensive strategy. The visitors dominated possession and created numerous scoring opportunities, unleashing a barrage of 18 shots throughout the match, with 12 finding their way on target.

However, the scoreline remained deadlocked at 0-0 for the majority of the game, thanks to IUC's goalkeeper Mallory Gilley. Building on the team's recent defensive performances, Gilley stood like a wall between the posts. The keeper made an impressive 11 saves, repeatedly denying Ohio Christian's forwards and keeping her team in the contest despite the relentless onslaught.

The Crimson Pride's defense, anchored by Jada Day, Billie Puente, and Madison Merritt, battled tirelessly to keep the Ohio Christian attacks at bay. Their efforts were crucial in frustrating the visitors and keeping the match scoreless deep into the second half.

In the 86th minute, Syerra Metzler, assisted by Elizabeth Grooms, managed to slot one past Gilley, breaking the deadlock and putting the Trailblazers ahead 1-0.

Despite falling behind so late in the game, IU Columbus refused to give up. The team pushed forward in a desperate search for an equalizer, with Cyanne St. Bernard providing their lone shot of the game. Unfortunately, the Ohio Christian defense held firm, and the Crimson Pride were unable to find the back of the net before the final whistle.

The Crimson Pride return to the pitch for another double-header Saturday, October 5, at 4:30pm.
