MIDWAY, Ky. – The IU Columbus Crimson Pride faced a tough challenge on the road Thursday evening, falling to Midway University 109-59. Despite a determined effort, the IU Columbus struggled to find consistency on both ends of the floor against a hot-shooting Midway squad.

From the opening tip, Midway controlled the pace, using efficient shooting and dominant rebounding to build a 52-23 halftime lead. IU Columbus battled back in the second half, nearly doubling their offensive output with 36 points, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.

The Crimson Pride had difficulty finding their rhythm offensively, shooting 32% from the field and just 20% from three-point range. Turnovers also played a role in the defeat, with IU Columbus committing 20, and allowing Midway to convert 28 points into easy transition buckets.

Despite the tough night, Owen Law led IU Columbus with 12 points and five assists, while Deylon Johnson added 11 points, five rebounds, and four steals. Jack Fischvogt and Bobby Wonnell provided sparks off the bench with 10 points each.

Midway put on an impressive shooting display, knocking down 59% of their field goal attempts, including 42% from beyond the arc. The Eagles also dominated the rebounding battle, grabbing 61 boards compared to IU Columbus' 24, leading to numerous second-chance opportunities.

Midway's Decoreio Smith paced all scorers with 22 points, while Amari Wales posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The Crimson Pride have a quick turnaround and will look to regroup for their next contest on Saturday, February 1. The Crimson Pride travel to Richmond, Indiana to face the IU East Red Wolves. Tip-off is set for 1:00 PM.
