GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Despite one of their strongest offensive outings of the season from sophomore guard
Amaya Collins, the IU Columbus women's basketball team fell 98–56 on the road Thursday night to undefeated RV Georgetown (9-0) inside Davis Reid Alumni Gym.
Collins led the Crimson Pride with 21 points, knocking down 5-of-9 from three and providing energy on both ends while logging a game-high 36 minutes. Junior forward Abby Fleetwood turned in another efficient performance in the paint, finishing with 13 points, 4 rebounds, and a perfect 5-for-5 at the free throw line.
IU Columbus battled on the glass throughout the night, pulling down 41 total rebounds, including strong efforts from Morgan Montgomery (8) and Emma Beaver, who grabbed 5 offensive rebounds off the bench in just 15 minutes of action.
Cold shooting in the opening quarter put the Crimson Pride in an early deficit, as Georgetown jumped ahead 32–8 after the first period and carried a 59–24 lead into halftime. IU Columbus regrouped in the second half, playing their most competitive stretch of the game while matching Georgetown with 20 points in the fourth quarter.
The Crimson Pride saw contributions across the roster, including Ryleigh Anderson's 6 points and 4 rebounds, and a steady defensive presence from Hadassah Hurt, who added 5 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 assist.
Georgetown was powered by a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures and a 57–41 rebounding advantage.
IU Columbus (1-6) continues its road stretch and looks to build on the positives from their second-half push as they prepare for their next matchup.
