LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The IU Columbus men's basketball team came up just short in an overtime battle on Tuesday night, falling 69–67 on the road at Simmons College of Kentucky.
The Crimson Pride (2-2) led for much of the night but couldn't hold off a late push from the Falcons, who forced overtime and edged IU Columbus in the extra period.
Owen Law led the Crimson Pride with 17 points, 7 assists, and 3 steals, while Jermayn Baxter added 13 points and 5 rebounds. Trevin Lieck chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds, and Kyan Reichhoff came off the bench to hit all three of his shots from beyond the arc for 9 points.
IU Columbus shot 40% from the field and finished with 18 assists, but 12 turnovers and missed free throws (9-for-15) proved costly in the narrow defeat. The Crimson Pride led 32–28 at halftime and held a late advantage before Simmons rallied to tie the game and outscore IU Columbus 6–4 in overtime.
Simmons' Franklin Sampson led all scorers with 22 points.
Next Up: The Crimson Pride now turn their attention to the IU Northwest Classic this weekend, where they'll face Holy Cross College on Friday (Nov. 7) at 6:00 PM before taking on the hosts, IU Northwest on Saturday (Nov. 8) at 2:00 PM.
