Women's Basketball Struggle Offensively Against IU Kokomo

COLUMBUS, Ind. – The IU Columbus women's basketball team fought hard but fell to IU Kokomo, 66-40, on Tuesday night at Circle K Fieldhouse. Despite strong efforts from Amaya Collins and Tatum McFarland, the Crimson Pride struggled to find offensive consistency against a tough Cougars defense.

IU Columbus (2-24, 0-15) started the game with competitive energy, keeping pace in the first quarter but trailing 15-9 after the opening period. However, IU Kokomo (19-8, 10-5) tightened its defense and controlled the boards, building a 29-19 halftime lead before pulling away in the second half. The Cougars dominated the rebounding battle 48-26 and took advantage of IU Columbus' offensive struggles.

The Crimson Pride shot just 28.3% from the field and 15.0% from three-point range (3-of-20). Collins led IU Columbus with nine points, five rebounds, and two steals, while McFarland added eight points and four rebounds. Cora Baker contributed six points and five rebounds, and Isyss Donelson provided a boost off the bench with five points.

IU Kokomo relied on a balanced attack, with Cameryn Rector leading all scorers with 15 points. Mia Catey recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Anna Kiser added 14 points and eight boards. The Cougars shot 39.7% from the field and converted 17-of-21 free throws (81.0%).

IU Columbus worked to stay in the game, but a tough third quarter saw the Crimson Pride manage just eight points as IU Kokomo extended its lead. Despite improved execution in the fourth, the deficit was too much to overcome.

The Crimson Pride will look to regroup as they prepare for their final contest of the season on Saturday (Feb. 22), where they face IU Southeasthonor. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM.
