Goshen, Ind. – IU Columbus men's soccer closed out a challenging non-conference road match on Saturday night, falling 4-0 to a sharp Goshen College side at Ingold Complex. The loss moves the Crimson Pride to 3-2-1 overall.
The Maple Leafs jumped in front early, scoring in the 8th and 11th minutes to seize momentum. Goshen added two more goals in the second half to secure the win despite a competitive defensive effort from the Crimson Pride.
IU Columbus produced nine total shots, including six on target, but couldn't solve Maple Leafs goalkeeper Gabriel Viau, who made six saves to preserve the shutout. IUC Goalkeeper Jacob Kasarda kept the Crimson Pride within reach with an active night in net, recording nine saves against 13 shots on goal while also receiving a yellow card late in the second half.
Offensively, Saulo Luna, Christian Cardoso, and Noah Cordero each recorded two shots to pace IU Columbus, while Alejandro Alvarez and Dylan Krueckeberg also put attempts on frame. The Crimson Pride were whistled for 17 fouls and issued five yellow cards in a physical contest that featured 42 total fouls.
IU Columbus returns home looking to regroup before diving into River States Conference play.
Next Up: The Crimson Pride resume action next week with their league schedule approaching after a tough stretch of non-conference opponents. They face off against Taylor University Wednesday (Sept. 17) night. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
