Crimson Pride Struggle on the Road in 4–1 Loss

Georgetown, Ky. – The IU Columbus men's soccer team dropped a 4–1 decision on the road Saturday afternoon against Georgetown at Toyota Stadium. The Crimson Pride (3-4-1) were out-shot 27-11, but battled to stay within reach before the Tigers pulled away late.

Georgetown struck first in the 18th minute when Roberto Saer converted unassisted to give the hosts the early lead. The Tigers doubled their advantage just before halftime as Daniel Saer found the net in the 41st minute, sending IU Columbus into the break trailing 2–0.

The Crimson Pride looked to rally after the intermission, but Georgetown extended the margin to 3–0 in the 60th minute on a strike by Nicolas Del Aguila. IU Columbus answered quickly as Jake Hofelich broke through in the 65th minute, scoring unassisted to record his first goal of the season and trim the deficit to 3–1. The Tigers responded less than 10 minutes later, however, when Inchun Han capped the scoring in the 74th minute.

Goalkeeper Jacob Kasarda turned aside seven saves while facing 11 shots on goal to keep the Crimson Pride within striking distance. Offensively, IU Columbus generated 11 total shots, led by Christian Cardoso with four attempts and two on target.

Next Up: IU Columbus will look to bounce back when they return home on Saturday (Sept. 27), to kick off conference play against Shawnee State University. The match is set to start at 7:00 PM.
