Volleyball Battles Tough Road Stretch, Falls to SMWC and IU Kokomo

IU Columbus volleyball faced a challenging weekend road swing, dropping a hard-fought four-set match at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (SMWC) on Friday night before falling in straight sets to #20 IU Kokomo on Saturday. The Crimson Pride moved to 11-6 overall and 2-3 in RSC play following the two matches.

Friday, September 26 at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (L, 1-3)

The Crimson Pride pushed the Pomeroy's to four sets but ultimately fell 21-25, 22-25, 25-23, 16-25 inside the Knoerle Center.

  • Cora baker delivered a standout performance with a match-high 21 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, adding 9 digs and a service ace for 22 total points.

  • Ruthie Bingham was a strong counterpart, posting 15 kills on .294 hitting.

  • Setter Bailey Stevens directed the attack with 43 assists and added 9 digs, while libero Alyvia Luce anchored the back row with a team-high 18 digs.

IU Columbus hit .203 as a team but was outpaced by the Pomeroy's balanced offense, which tallied 57 kills and 13 service aces.

Saturday, September 27 at IU Kokomo (L, 0-3)

The Crimson Pride had a quick turnaround against undefeated conference leader and nationally ranked IU Kokomo, falling 17-25, 15-25, 16-25 at the Student Activities & Events Center.


IU Columbus struggled to find rhythm offensively, hitting just .026 as a team while the Cougars posted an efficient .293 mark with 38 kills and 9 total team blocks.
