COLUMBUS, Ind. — IU Columbus faced a tough test Saturday afternoon, falling 88–62 to Shawnee State in River States Conference action at home.
Shawnee State came out firing in the opening half, shooting efficiently and building a 40–26 lead at the break. The Bears maintained their momentum after halftime, pouring in 48 second-half points to pull away and secure the conference victory.
Trevin Lieck led the Crimson Pride with a double-double, finishing with 12 points and a team-high 11 rebounds while shooting an efficient 4-of-7 from the floor. Kyan Reichhoff added 10 points, while Jayden Broadnax chipped in eight.
LaRenzo Hopkins provided a spark off the bench, contributing eight points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Jaleel Edwards also scored eight points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers.
IU Columbus showed flashes defensively, recording 11 steals and forcing 15 Shawnee State turnovers, but struggled to find consistency on the offensive end. The Crimson Pride shot 34.6 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three-point range while leaving points at the free-throw line, going 21-of-33 at the stripe.
Shawnee State was led by Daniel Rosenberg, who scored a game-high 20 points on a perfect 9-for-9 shooting performance. Jareon Mayo added 15 points and five steals for the Bears.
IU Columbus moves to 2–14 overall and 0–4 in conference play, while Shawnee State improves to 12–4 overall and remains undefeated in RSC play at 4–0.
The Crimson Pride will look to regroup as conference play continues.
