COLUMBUS, Ind. — IU Columbus used a dominant second-half surge to secure its second conference win of the season, defeating Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College 70–55 on Saturday afternoon at Cirkle K Fieldhouse at NexusPark.
After trailing 28–24 at halftime, the Crimson Pride flipped the script coming out of the break, outscoring the Pomeroys 23–12 in the third quarter and matching that output again in the fourth to pull away for a convincing 15-point victory. The win improves IU Columbus to 4-10 overall and 2-0 in conference play under head coach James Adams.
Junior Abby Fleetwood delivered another standout performance, pouring in 27 points on 13-of-21 shooting while dominating the glass with 15 rebounds. She was relentless on both ends of the floor, adding an eye-catching eights steals to go along with her double-double.
IU Columbus controlled the paint and the boards throughout the afternoon, finishing with a 45-29 rebounding advantage, including 20 offensive rebounds that fueled second-chance opportunities. The Crimson Pride also forced 23 turnovers, converting defensive pressure into momentum-shifting possessions in the second half.
Morgan Montgomery provided a spark off the bench, scoring 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting while pulling down seven rebounds. Amaya Collins facilitated the offense with a team-high six assists, adding 11 points and two steals, while Hadassah Hurt chipped in nine points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
Defensively, IU Columbus clamped down after halftime, holding Saint Mary-of-the-Woods to just 27 second-half points and limiting their effectiveness inside. The Crimson Pride finished with 14 steals and three blocks, maintaining pressure for all four quarters.
With balanced contributions and another dominant outing from Fleetwood, IU Columbus continues to build momentum as conference play progresses.
