Crimson Pride Fall in Season Finale, 101-70

IU Columbus showed resilience in the second half, but an early shooting barrage by Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College proved too much to overcome in a 101-70 road loss Saturday at the Knoerle Center.

The Pomeroys caught fire from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes, connecting on 10-of-15 three-point attempts and shooting nearly 59 percent from the field in the first half. IU Columbus struggled to find its rhythm offensively, shooting 33 percent before the break, as Saint Mary-of-the-Woods built a 51-23 halftime advantage.

Despite the deficit, the Crimson Pride responded with a better offensive performance in the second half. IU Columbus shot 42.9 percent from the field and knocked down 7-of-13 from three-point range over the final 20 minutes. The Crimson Pride scored 47 points in the second half.

Trevin Lieck led IU Columbus with 16 points and nine rebounds, going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Damontae Thompson added 15 points and 5 assists, while Eric Jackson contributed 10 points. Off the bench, Airrion Boyd and Jack Fischvogt scored 10 and 6 points, respectively, helping IU Columbus finish with 24 bench points.

The Pride shot 38.7 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three overall (9-of-21), while converting 13-of-14 from the free-throw line (92.9 percent).

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods finished the game shooting 52.6 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three (15-of-35). The Pomeroys also held advantages in points in the paint (44-26), fast-break points (20-2), and points off turnovers (20-8).
