Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 IU Columbus baseball hosted Siena Heights on Wednesday at CERA Sports Park. The Crimson Pride got some good pitching on the day, including a 2-hit complete game effort by Grayson Roll in game 2, but it was not enough as the Saints took the first game 5-3 and won the second game in a 1-0 pitchers duel.

Game 1
Zayne Smith started on the mound for the Crimson Pride and it was a rocky first inning. Siena Heights combined 3 walks, an infield error, a single and a pair of passed balls into 3 runs in the top of the first. Brendan Bailey relieved Smith to start the second inning and threw 4 shutout innings.
Carson McNulty got IU Columbus on the board as he singled with one out in the bottom of the second and later scored on a groundout to shortstop by Grayson Roll.

The Crimson Pride tied the game in the fifth. Robinson led off with a single, moved to second on a walk to Borkhardt, and scored on a 2-out RBI single by McNulty.
Siena Heights got a leadoff triple in the top of the sixth by Braxton Mustiful. Gavin Haltom relieved Bailey on the mound and proceeded to get three cosecutive ground balls to shortstop Sutton to escape the threat.
The Saints got to Haltom in the seventh as Wyatt Burris led off with a single and scored on an opposite field home run by Zander Zieter, giving the Saints a 5-3 lead.
Guy Young came in as the closer for Siena Heights and earned the save, giving up one hit and no runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Game 2
The second game was definitely a pitchers duel. Siena Heights used four pitchers to combine for a five-hit shutout. Grayson Roll started and went the entire game for the Crimson Pride and pitched a great game, giving up only one unearned run in the sixth inning. He gave up only two hits without walking a batter.
IU Columbus had their chances but could not come up with the clutch hit. They left two runners on base in the first, third and fifth innings without plating a single run. They loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with two outs but the Saints Nolan Gray was able to escape the jam and get the save for Siena Heights.

Game notes
While the Crimson Pride committed 3 errors in the two games, third baseman Garrett Thurman and shortstop Wyatt Suttton made some great plays on the left side of the infield to support the strong pitching on the day.
