Brian Wichman

Brian Wichman is the Head Baseball Coach at Indiana University Columbus, bringing a proven track record of building programs, developing talent, and creating winning cultures across high school, collegiate, and elite travel baseball.

Wichman previously served as an assistant coach at IU Columbus and as Head Coach at Scottsburg High School from 2018 to 2024, where he established a disciplined, competitive program rooted in accountability and player development. He also founded and led the Indiana Blazers travel organization, building it from the ground up into a respected program while overseeing all aspects of operations, recruiting, and athlete development.

In addition to his coaching career, Wichman has extensive experience as a recommending scout for the Cincinnati Reds, evaluating high school and collegiate talent and maintaining strong connections throughout the baseball community. His players have advanced to all levels of collegiate baseball, with several earning professional opportunities.

Wichman brings a unique blend of leadership experience from engineering, education, and performance training, shaping a disciplined, high-expectation approach to building a collegiate program. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Ball State University and a Master of Science in Administrative Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University.

Wichman is deeply rooted in the Columbus community, where he lives with his wife, Cathy. Together, they have raised four sons, all of whom attended East high school and played baseball and football. He is committed to growing the game locally, investing in student-athlete success, and building a program that connects to the community while encouraging players to return to Columbus as leaders and contributors beyond their playing careers.
