Jacob Cutter is a passionate baseball coach and former collegiate pitcher whose dedication to player development and team culture has shaped his coaching career. He joined the IU Columbus Baseball staff in 2025.
Jacob began his coaching journey in travel baseball, spending one year with Indiana Nitro as an assistant coach before serving three years as head coach with Baseball Academics Midwest. He then moved into high school coaching, where he spent three seasons as the head pitching coach at Indianapolis Lutheran High School. During his tenure, his teams achieved remarkable success, including a Semi-State Runner-Up finish in 2024 and a State Championship in 2025.
As a player, Jacob competed at multiple collegiate programs. He spent his freshman and sophomore years at Greenville University, his junior season (during the Covid year) at Bluefield State University, and concluded his collegiate career at Hood College, where he played his senior and fifth years. A pitcher throughout his career, Jacob’s experiences as a student-athlete helped shape his approach to leadership, discipline, and perseverance.
Jacob earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in Business Administration in 2022.
His coaching philosophy centers on the belief that every great team is built on culture, discipline, and leadership. For Jacob, culture is rooted in family, faith, consistency, and grit. He emphasizes the importance of trust, belief in the process, steady work habits, and resilience through challenges. He also believes true discipline comes from leaders who not only enforce standards but also hold themselves to an even higher standard.
