Zac Rice

Zac Rice is an emerging collegiate baseball coach whose passion for the game and firsthand experience as a high-level athlete shape his approach to coaching and player development. Originally from Alabama, Zac played a key role for the University of Tennessee at Martin (UT Martin), where he contributed to one of the most successful stretches in program history.

As a standout outfielder for the Skyhawks, Zac helped lead the team to back-to-back postseason appearances and a third-place finish in the Ohio Valley Conference in 2023. Over the course of his collegiate career, he compiled a .309 batting average, 17 home runs, 120 hits, and 51 RBIs. Known for his speed and athleticism, he also recorded 28 stolen bases and maintained a .534 slugging percentage with a .378 on-base percentage. Zac played in 102 games—starting in 101—after transferring from Chipola College in Marianna, Florida.

Following his playing career, Zac served as a graduate assistant coach at UT Martin, where he began his transition into coaching by working closely with players and staff to support the program’s continued growth.

Zac graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, combining his academic pursuits with his deep commitment to athletics. In 2025, he joined IU Columbus as an assistant baseball coach, eager to bring his energy, insights, and playing experience to the Crimson Pride.

Zac is a proud native of Russell County, Alabama, where he starred under Coach Tony Rasmus at Russell County High School. He was ranked the No. 2 outfielder and No. 12 overall prospect in the state by Perfect Game.
