Tommi Stowers

Tommi Stowers is a passionate softball coach and community leader from Columbus, Indiana, with a strong background in athletics, public service, and mentorship. A proud graduate of Columbus North High School, Tommi made local history by becoming the first softball player from Columbus to sign and compete at the Division I level. She was a four-year varsity starter, First-Team All-Conference selection, and Silver Honor Roll recipient, recognized as her high school team’s Best Offensive Player.

Tommi began her collegiate career at Western Kentucky University, where she played in over 90 games during her first three seasons. As a freshman, she went an incredible 5-for-5 in a single game, tying both WKU and Conference USA records. During her junior year, she posted a strong .324 batting average and .595 slugging percentage, notching seven doubles, a home run, and 10 RBI across just 20 games.

She later transferred to Monmouth University, where she continued to excel. As a fifth-year senior, Tommi ranked second on the team and eighth in the MAAC with a .366 batting average. She led the team in slugging percentage (.634), RBI (28), doubles (13), and total bases (59). Her offensive production included multiple multi-hit games, key home runs, and clutch performances—such as a grand slam against Canisius and a game-winning home run in a 1-0 win over Manhattan.

After her collegiate career, Tommi returned to Columbus to give back to the community. She served as an assistant softball coach at Seymour High School and umpired USSSA softball tournaments under the guidance of Tim Foster. In addition to her athletic contributions, she worked for the Bartholomew County Parks and Recreation Department as a budget planner and maintenance worker, helping to maintain and enhance local recreational facilities.

In 2021, Tommi was named Head Softball Coach at IU Columbus, where she now leads with the same passion, grit, and drive that fueled her playing career. Her coaching philosophy centers on fostering a family-like team culture, emphasizing academic achievement, and holding high standards for excellence on and off the field. Her ultimate goal is to help student-athletes graduate with a valuable degree while growing into leaders and competitors.

Fun Fact: Tommi spends her weekends officiating youth softball tournaments and remains a strong supporter of local sports across Indiana.
