Matt McCarroll is a dedicated football coach and student advocate from Indianapolis, Indiana, whose career in athletics and education spans over a decade. A proud graduate of Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, Matt went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management with a minor in Marketing from Bowling Green State University. He later received his Master of Science in Coaching Pedagogy from Ohio University, further deepening his commitment to developing athletes both on and off the field.
Matt’s coaching journey began at his alma mater, Brebeuf Jesuit, where he coached football and track for four seasons. He later transitioned to the collegiate level, coaching running backs at DePauw University, Marian University, and Butler University—spending the majority of his college coaching career at Butler. In 2020, Matt returned to Brebeuf Jesuit to once again coach football, helping develop young student-athletes over the past three seasons.
In addition to his coaching roles, Matt served as a Dean of Students at a school on the south side of Indianapolis for three years. His leadership in student affairs reflects his passion for mentorship, discipline, and creating supportive learning environments.
In 2023, Matt joined IU Columbus, bringing with him a wealth of experience, a strong foundation in coaching, and a genuine dedication to student-athlete success.
Fun Fact: Matt and his wife, Katrina, live in Indianapolis with their dog, Dash. Together, they enjoy traveling and are avid fans of reality competition shows Survivor and The Amazing Race.
