McKenzie is a driven athletics professional and former collegiate athlete from Indiana, whose passion for sports and event coordination has shaped her career in athletic administration.
She joins IU Columbus as the Athletics Operations Coordinator, bringing a strong educational foundation and diverse hands-on experience in sports management, media operations, and public relations.
A standout in both academics and athletics, McKenzie earned her Master of Business Administration from Indiana University Kokomo in May 2024, following dual Bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Sport Management from Defiance College in 2023. During her college years, she was a Dean’s List honoree at both institutions and a dedicated member of the women’s basketball teams. Beyond the court, she actively participated in leadership initiatives and was recognized as the Sport Management Student of the Month in February 2022. Her academic excellence also earned her multiple scholarships, including the Chamber of Commerce Business Scholarship and the Community Health Network Sports Medicine Scholarship.
McKenzie’s real-world experience is equally impressive. In March 2024, she supported media operations and game statistics for the NCAA Men’s March Madness First & Second Round in Indianapolis. She interned with the Athletic Department at Defiance High School in spring 2023, managing event scheduling, ticket sales, and financial responsibilities. In summer 2022, she gained administrative and managerial experience with the Kokomo Jackrabbits baseball organization. Additionally, McKenzie served as the Public Relations Director for the HCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships in February 2022, where she led the creation of marketing materials and promotional strategies that enhanced event visibility and audience engagement.
In her role at IU Columbus, McKenzie leverages her leadership, organization, and communication skills to help ensure smooth operations and support the continued growth of the athletics program.
Fun Fact: Outside of work, McKenzie enjoys watching sports, shopping, listening to music, and spending quality time with her friends and family.
