IU Columbus Falls at Saint Xavier, 117-100

CHICAGO, Ill. - Despite shooting a blistering 56.3% from the field, the IU Columbus basketball team came up short against Saint Xavier in a high-scoring affair on Monday night, falling 117-100 in Chicago.

Owen Law provided a major spark off the bench for IU Columbus, pouring in a team-high 27 points on an efficient 12-of-18 shooting performance in 26 minutes of action. Law connected on 2-of-5 attempts from beyond the arc and added six rebounds.

Bobby Wonnell contributed 21 points, including four three-pointers, while Gavin Dowling added 11 points and five rebounds in the losing effort. Damontae Thompson chipped in eight points and dished out four assists.

The Crimson Pride struggled to contain Saint Xavier's prolific three-point shooting attack, as the hosts connected on 20-of-40 attempts from long range. Jordan Jackson led Saint Xavier with 23 points on 8-of-9 shooting, while Kevin Bishop added 16 points without missing a shot (7-of-7).

Despite committing just 12 turnovers and matching Saint Xavier on the boards with 34 rebounds, IU Columbus was unable to overcome the host's hot shooting and superior ball movement, as Saint Xavier recorded 29 assists to IU Columbus's 20.

The loss drops IU Columbus to 0-8 on the season. The team will look to capture its first win when they return to their home court on Thursday, November 11. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
