Crimson Pride Swept by #11 Cougars

COLUMBUS - In a challenging home match, IU Columbus fell in straight sets to nationally ranked and conference leader IU Kokomo Tuesday night. The Crimson Pride struggled to find their offensive rhythm against a strong Kokomo defense, particularly in the final set of the 20-25, 18-25, 9-25 defeat.

Sophomore Cora Baker led the Columbus attack with 8 kills, while senior Leah Thompson added 7 kills. Freshman Madison Hunter provided strong defensive support with 7 digs and contributed 4 aces from the service line. Alyvia Luce and Alaina Wesling combined for 13 digs in the back row.

The Crimson Pride showed early fight in the first set, keeping pace with the undefeated Cougars before falling 25-20. The team's serving remained a bright spot throughout the match, with the Pride recording 7 aces as a team.

However, offensive efficiency proved to be the difference maker, as IU Columbus posted a .020 hitting percentage against Kokomo's .307. The visitors' block proved particularly troublesome, with IU Kokomo recording 10 blocks to Columbus's 3.

The loss drops IU Columbus to 9-13 on the season and 5-10 in conference play. The Crimson Pride look to wrap up their season this Saturday (Nov. 9) at Oakland City at 2:00 pm.
