Bippus Records 20 Saves in Loss Against Conference-Leading Oakland City

COLUMBUS, Ind. – IU Columbus continued River States Conference play on Thursday afternoon, hosting first-place Oakland City University at the BCSC Soccer Complex. Despite a determined defensive effort, the Crimson Pride fell 6-0 to the Mighty Oaks.

River States Conference Player of the Week, Zoe Bippus was tested throughout the match and rose to the challenge, recording an impressive 20 saves against 26 shots on goal. Her performance anchored the Crimson Pride defense against an Oakland City attack that entered the day unbeaten in league play.

Freshman Madelyn McIntosh registered IU Columbus' lone shot on goal, challenging Oakland City keeper Alicia Garwood, who earned the shutout.

The Mighty Oaks broke through late in the first half to take a 1-0 lead and added five more goals in the second half. Despite the scoreline, IU Columbus displayed resilience and intensity throughout, especially in the first half, holding strong against one of the conference's most balanced offenses.

Next Up: IU Columbus will look to regroup and close out their 2025 season on Saturday (Nov. 1) as they face RSC newcomer, Kentucky Christian University. Kick-off is set for 2:00 PM.
