Volleyball Rolls Past WVU Tech in Straight Sets Victory

COLUMBUS, Ind. – IU Columbus Volleyball continued its strong stretch of play Saturday afternoon, earning a 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-14, 27-25) over WVU Tech at Cera Sports Park to improve to 13-6 overall and 4-3 in River States Conference play.

The Crimson Pride controlled the opening two sets behind efficient offense and strong serving, hitting .379 in the first set and .257 in the second. IU Columbus closed each of the first two frames on dominant runs to take a commanding 2-0 lead.

WVU Tech pushed back in the third, jumping out to an early advantage before the Crimson Pride mounted a late comeback. IU Columbus erased multiple set points, showing poise down the stretch to claim a 27-25 win and complete the sweep.

Offensively, Journee Brown led the way with eight kills on .533 hitting, while Sadie Egan added nine kills, six digs, and nine assists in another strong all-around performance. Cora Baker tallied seven kills with a .375 attack percentage, and Ava Granson hit an impressive .714 with five kills on seven swings.

Setter Bailey Stevens directed the offense with 21 assists and added three service aces, while Kami Vester and Mikaela Salinas provided valuable energy off the bench, combining for four aces. Defensively, Alyvia Luce anchored the back row with 11 digs, and the Crimson Pride finished with 52 as a team.

As a unit, IU Columbus posted a .257 team hitting percentage and held WVU Tech to .123, while also winning the serve-pass battle with eight aces to four.

Next Up: The team will return to action next weekend with a pair of conference road matches — Friday (Oct. 10) at IU East and Saturday (Oct. 11) at Midway University (Ky.). Friday's match is set to start at 6:00 PM and Saturday's is set for 2:00 PM.
