Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Shut Out on the Road on Saturday at Georgetown

Georgetown, Ky. – The IU Columbus women's soccer team was unable to generate enough offense on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 to Georgetown at Toyota Stadium. The Crimson Pride (2-3-1) managed just four shots, including two on goal, while the Tigers (4-3-1) controlled the tempo from start to finish.

Georgetown opened the scoring early when Bekah Clark netted her third goal of the season in the sixth minute, putting IU Columbus in an early hole. Despite a resilient defensive effort led by goalkeeper Mallory Gilley, who recorded an impressive 13 saves against 16 shots on goal, the Crimson Pride kept the deficit at one heading into halftime.

The Tigers extended their lead in the second half as Clark struck again in the 65th minute before Sophie Paul added the final tally just four minutes later. Georgetown out-shot IU Columbus 23-4, including a 16-2 edge in shots on frame, and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Offensively, Lily Campbell and Gaby Esparza each recorded a shot on goal for IU Columbus, while Madelyn McIntosh and Madelynn Thangam added attempts that were blocked or missed the target.

Next Up: The Crimson Pride will look to bounce back when they hit the road for their final non-conference match-up against Ohio Christian University on Wednesday (Sept. 24) before returning home on Saturday (Sept. 27), to host their conference opener. Wednesday's kickoff is set for 4:30 PM.
