Circleville, Ohio – IU Columbus women's soccer showed resilience on the road Wednesday evening, rallying late to earn a 1-1 draw against Ohio Christian in non-conference action.
After a scoreless first half highlighted by steady defensive play and key saves from goalkeeper Zoe Bippus, the Crimson Pride found themselves trailing when Ohio Christian's Abby Widenour broke the deadlock in the 75th minute. Widenour finished a feed from Kyla Harvey to give the Trailblazers a 1-0 advantage.
IU Columbus refused to back down, responding with persistent pressure in the final 15 minutes. The breakthrough came in the 87th minute when freshman forward Halle Archer netted her first career goal, finishing a pinpoint assist from midfielder Lily Campbell to even the match at 1-1.
The Crimson Pride out-shot Ohio Christian 9-7 overall, with a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Archer led the attack with five shots—two on frame—while Campbell created multiple chances with three shots and the late assist.
In goal, Zoe Bippus turned in a strong performance, recording four saves across the full 90 minutes to help secure the result. IU Columbus also held a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks and displayed a determined defensive effort despite picking up multiple yellow cards during the second half.
The draw moves IU Columbus to 2-3-2 with tonight's tie.
Next Up: The Crimson Pride will look to build on their late-game momentum when they return home for their next match-up, Saturday (Sept. 27) as they open conference play against Shawnee State University.
