Box Score The IU Columbus volleyball team played host to Midway University on Saturday at CERA Sports Park. It was Senior Day, and a pregame ceremony was certainly a highlight on the day. The Crimson Pride also capped off a weekend sweep as they defeated the Eagles in three sets.

The Crimson Pride started slowly, perhaps a letdown after the emotional pregame, and Midway jumped out to a 6-1 lead. The home team got their offense going, and after trailing 9-8, they outscored the Eagles 12-4 to lead 20-13. That run was highlighted by service aces fom Bailey Stevens and Alyvia Luce, two kills by Cora Baker, and Mika Salinas had three kills to go along with two service aces. Midway came back to push the set into extras. The Crimson Pride finally prevailed 29-27.

Midway led early in the second set. Trailing 10-7 the Crimson Pride really turned it on, outscoring the Eagles 18-3 for a comfortable 25-13 margin and a two set lead.

The Crimson Pride played solid defensively and took advantage of some errors by the Eagles to jump in front in the third set. A balanced offensive attack pushed the score to a commanding 16-4 lead. The home team cruised the rest of the way for a 25-14 final set score. Interestingly, freshman Gabie Francis had the kill for the final point on Senior Day.
