Box Score 3 Due to weather concerns the River Conference Series between Brescia and IU Columbus was moved from Owensboro, Kentucky to Kokomo, Indiana. The change in venue to Indiana did not help the Crimson Pride as Brescia swept the three game series.
Saturday, March 28
Carter Reitz got the start on the mound for IU Columbus. After striking out the leadoff hitter, Reitz hit Joseph Massa. The next two batters reached on infield errors to load the bases. Michael Ascencio singled to score two unearned runs and give Brescia the early lead. They added three more runs in the second inning on four singles and a double, making the score 5-0 after two innings.
Garrett Thurman walked to lead off the fourth for the Crimson Pride and moved to second on a wild pitch.
Quentcy Perry came through with a two out RBI single to put a run on the board for IU Columbus. That turned out to be the only run on the day for IU Columbus, as Brescia added two more runs in the seventh to take the series opener 7-1.
Sunday, March 29
Game 1
Brescia scored an unearned run in the first inning to take the early lead. They added three more in the second on a walk, a single, a double and a sacrifice fly to make the score 4-0.
Trey VanMeter tripled with one out in the third, and scored on
Wyatt Sutton's sacrifice fly.
Brescia scored two more runs in the third, and added single runs in the fourth and fifth to make the score 8-1. Things looked bleak for IUC with two outs and nobody on base in the sixth.
Daulton Phillips reached on an infield error and
Wes McNeff singled.
Aidan Sheetz doubled in both runners, breathing some life into the Crimson Pride hopes. The Bearcats went down in order in the bottom of the sixth, and the IU Columbus bats really woke up in the seventh.

Brett Poindexter led off with a double down the right field line. VanMeter singled and Sutton walked to load the bases. After an infield fly for the first out,
Carson McNulty singled. scoring Poindexter and leaving the bases loaded. Phillips then smashed a home run to left, and the grand slam tied the game 8-8. After a Brescia pitching change, McNeff doubled  to left-center. Caiden Ratcliff ran for McNeff, and he scored on a Perry single up the middle, giving the Crimson Pride the lead at 9-8.Â
Brescia loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, and a two-out walk to Connor Mitchuson tied the game. The Bearcats then scored three more in the bottom of the eighth to lead 12-9. IU Columbus scored one run in the top of the ninth, but the rally stalled there, with Brescia winning the first game of the doubleheader 12-10.
Game 2
Brescia scored in the first inning with an error involved for the third straight game. After a one-out error and a single, Hayden Jones hit a three-run homer to give the Bearcats the early lead. They added three more runs in the third on a walk, a single and a pair of doubles to make the score 6-0.
The Crimson Pride got on the board in the fourth inning. Phillips and McNeff drew one-out walks.
Garrett Thurman drilled a three-run home run to left, cutting the Bearcats lead in half. Brescia scored once in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 7-3.
IU Columbus used a walk to Sutton and singles by VanMeter and McNulty to cut the lead to 7-4 in the fifth inning. It stayed that way until the seventh, when the Crimson Pride put two runners on with two outs, bringing Phillips to the plate as the potential tying run. Phillips lined out to the third baseman to end the game, and the Bearcats completed the three-game sweep with the 7-4 win.

The Crimson Pride travel to New Albany, Indiana for a River States Conference showdown against IU Southeast with a single nine-inning game on Friday and a doubleheader ( game 1 nine innings, game 2 seven innings) on Saturday.
