Box Score 2 IU Columbus played host to IU Southeast on Tuesday with fourth place in River States Conference standings on the line. Both team entered with .500 conference records, and both teams had .500 conference records after the doubleheader.
Game 1
Chloe Linn was the starting pitcher for the Crimson Pride and went five strong innings. The offense gave her early run support as
Linnea Baldner led off the bottom of the first with a single and a steal of second base. Lex Heafner laid down a sacrifice bunt, moving Baldner to third.
Emma Chism came through with a two-out RBI single to give the home team a 1-0 lead.
IU Southeast scored one run in the top of the third to tie the game.
Justice Cash opened the bottom half with a base hit. Two outs later
Mallory Shelton singled to score Cash, and Chism doubled in Shelton for a 3-1 lead. The Crimson Pride added two more in the fourth; Cash worked a one-out walk and scored on a double by Baldner. This time, Baldner stole third base, getting into position to score on Heafner's sacrifice fly to left.
The Grenadiers scored once in the fifth to cut the lead to 5-2.
Mackenzie Matern came in as the relief pitcher for Linn in the sixth and, after allowing the bases loaded, she escaped with no runs scoring. The offense put together another two-out rally in the sixth. Baldner and Heafner each singled, and when Shelton reached on an error the bases were loaded.
Carli Hosler ripped a pinch-hit single to score Baldner and Heafner.
Renee Lecher doubled in Shelton to make the score 8-2. Matern threw a scoreless seventh inning to preserve the win for the Crimson Pride.
Game 2
IU Sooutheast must have changed into their hitting shoes for the second game as they put up four runs in the first inning. They piled on in the second with seven more runs to lead 11-0. IU Columbus scored twice in the bottom of the second, but the Grenadiers matched that with two runs in the top of the third on a home run by Savannah Gaither. IU Columbus scored one run in the bottom of the third. but IU Southeast matched that with one in the top of the fourth.
The Crimson Pride showed some life in the bottom of the fourth. The first five batters reached safely, and all five scored to make the score 14-8. That was all the offense they could muster, and the final score was 18-8.

The Crimson Pride host Shawnee State for Senior Day on Friday with the doubleheader beginning at 1:00. Saturday they travel to Owensboro, Kentucky to take on the Brescia Bearcats.
