Crimson Pride Volleyball Stays Unbeaten With Road Win

Five Set Win Moves Record To 5-0

The Crimson Pride volleyball team defeated Bethel on the road on Wednesday, August 19th 25-14, 24-26, 25-18, 17-25, 15-11. The win kept them unbeaten with a record of 5-0 to start the season. Cora Baker led the way with 17 kills, and Sadie Egan and Kilani Jackson added 10 and 8, respectively. Journee Brown had three blocks, while Egan and Ava Granson each added two. Bailey Stevens handed out 19 assists. Baker added 20 digs, Stevens 18 and Alyvia Luce chipped in with 15 digs.

Coach Jose Olivo: "We knew Bethel was a very good team, so we went into the match with a clear objective: win by serving aggressively. With Bethel struggling in serve receive, they had difficulty running their offense. We finished the match with nine aces, led by Bailey Stevens with four.
At the same time, we experienced some difficulties with our own serve receive. It wasn't our best night in that area. We made some lineup changes to try to improve it, but we didn't see much of a difference. Fortunately, our offense was strong enough for us to prevail.
We didn't play our best volleyball against Bethel either, but I think the key difference was that they made some mistakes at the most critical moments of the match, and that ultimately tipped the balance in our favor."

Next on the schedule:
The Crimson Pride will play five matches in the Showdown In the Woods on Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29 in Terre Haute at the campus of St. Mary of the Woods.
