Leah Thompson

Leah Thompson is a former collegiate athlete turned coach, bringing passion, leadership, and firsthand experience to her role as Assistant Volleyball Coach at IU Columbus. A native of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Leah began her athletic career at Marian University Ancilla College, where she played both volleyball and basketball for two years. During her time at Ancilla, she earned team MVP honors and was recognized on the Dean’s List for her academic achievements.

Leah transferred to IU Columbus to round off her volleyball career, where she played one season and made an immediate impact. She appeared in 84 sets, recording 133 kills, 54 digs, and 7 blocks. Her work ethic, positive attitude, and strong court presence quickly established her as a leader within the program.

Prior to college, Leah was a multi-sport athlete at Rock Creek Community High School, where she played varsity volleyball under Coach Jennifer Brown and earned All-Conference Honorable Mention. She also played travel volleyball for Union and Vortex and competed in varsity basketball.

Now serving on the coaching staff, Leah combines her playing experience with a strong desire to mentor and support student-athletes. She is currently pursuing a degree in Psychology, with aspirations of becoming a therapist focused on working with children.
