Box Score The University of St. Francis (Illinois) women's soccer team defeated IU Columbus by the score of 5-2 on Saturday at Nexus Park. The Crimson Pride had only allowed one goal in their previous four games, but the Fighting Saints offense was too quick and efficient in this one.

The first half play was even until Ariadne Gonzales scored the first goal at 19:08 on an assist from Carisma Rosales. Each team had only four shots in the half leading to a 1-0 score at the break.

The second half was barely underway when Jimena Diaz scored after just 17 seconds. Rosales scored nine minutes later (assisted by Gonzales) to make it 3-0. Gonzales then converted a penalty kick two minutes later  to give the visitors a commanding 4-0 lead.

The Crimson Pride did not give up, and Halle Archer's first goal of the season at the 59:04 mark got the home team on the board. Kaitlyn Long then converted a penalty kick at the 62:02 mark to bring them within two at 4-2. That was all they would get, however, and the visitors added a goal by Isabel Diez (assist by Rosales) to make the final score 5-2.

Coach Kevin Nolan: "Our team fought the whole way and pulled out a great win. Zoe Bippus again showed why she's one of the best goalies in the conference. Also I was happy to see Nadia Harris get her first collegiate goal."
