Box Score The IU Columbus men's soccer team pulled together for a 3-1 win over Goshen College on Saturday at Nexus Park. While the team was without the services of eight players, they pulled together for a good win over the visiting Maple Leafs.

All of the scoring happened in the first half of this one. Goshen's Jorge Silva (assists by David Hidalgo Muniain and Noah Gray) gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute. The Crimson Pride offense started attacking, with three shots in five minutes, including a Noah Cordero shot that hit the crossbar, but none of those found the net. Finally, at the 34:36 mark, Mattheus Ornellas Gubert scored on an assist from Marckenson Paul. Less than two minutes later Jake Hofelich (assist Benito Robe) connected to give the Crimson Pride the lead at 2-1. Gubert then nailed his second goal of the game at 38:01. Three goals in less than four minutes!

The second half saw the Crimson Pride get several players on the pitch to gain experience. They controlled the action, taking five shots in the second half and holding the Maple Leafs to just one shot and no goals for the 3-1 win.

Coach Kevin Nolan: "I was very pleased with the guys today. Coming back from a goal down speaks to their character. We were missing eight players due to injuries and suspension so we were really working with a skeleton crew today, and our next man up mentality really showed. I'm extremely happy Mattheus was able to get his two goals and senior Jake Hofelich netted the second goal of his collegiate career. It's always sweet to get a sweep for the women and men."
